I'm passionate about drama and theatre - the arts offer such a creative way to learn about yourself, other people and the world in general. I love to act, but I'm gradually gaining confidence in directing and writing. I'm a member of Attic Theatre, Newcastle Emlyn (Carmarthenshire, West Wales). We are lucky enough to have our own theatre space. It's only small - 84 seats - but it's great to be able to rehearse and perform on the same stage, with the set being built around us. Here are some of the productions I've been involved with.
CURRENT PRODUCTION: Pandora's Biscuit Tin
I'm playing Alison, PA to a recently deceased business owner. The family is coming to terms with the death and the provisions of the will. A secret is revealed - should it be shared or put back in the bicuit tin?
DAI WHITTINGTON: Christmas production
This is one I wrote and directed, and I think it was an improvement on my previous panto. All the elements of the traditional pantomime were there, but I put a Welsh twist on it - including a shipwreck on Barrybados Island! The rehearsals were so much fun and the audiences enjoyed it too. I love pantomime. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it is a way to learn how to let go, to encourage audience participation and it can often be a child's introduction to the fun of the theatre. It's not easy to perform - it has techniques all of its own - but to hear the laughter of the audience is just magical.
